9-10 YEAR OLD GIRL’S SOFTBALL RULES

(Acted on by coaches 3-3-08, not approved by the Board of Directors)

 

*NO handpainting or decals allowed on helmets

*Pitching 35 feet distance.

*Games shall be 1 hour 15 minutes or 6 innings. No inning after 1 hour 10 minutes.

*Game time is forfeit time.

*Girl’s can pitch unlimited innings per game (do not have to be consecutive).

*Team can start and play with 8 and must finish with 8.

*Players cannot run on a dropped third strike.

*Infield fly rule is in effect.

*Teams must bat the entire lineup. If a player is injured and must leave the game their spot in the order will be skipped.

*9-10 year olds can have 4 players in outfield — behind the line.

*An inning consists of 5 runs or 3 outs.

*Home team will keep the official scorebook, and operate the scoreboard.

*Every player on the roster MUST bat. If a player must leave or is injured their place in the batting order will be skipped.

*There will be 1 minute between innings. Coaches are asked to have pitchers and catchers on the field early so they can get no more than 5 pitches between innings.

*Players must warm up pitchers — not coaches.

*Jewelry: ALL jewelry must be removed.

*Players must be properly dressed with their shirts TUCKED IN. Not tied up in the back.

*Batters must wear head gear and if a strap is available, must attach it. Helmets MUST be worn by the player until they return to the dugout.

*Base Stealing: Players can steal AFTER THE BALL CROSSES HOME PLATE.

*During infield warm-up the player at home plate MUST wear a protective helmet.

*Players and coaches (except 1st and 3rd base coaches when on offense) will remain in the dugout.
