13-14 YEAR OLD “JUNIOR LEAGUE” FASTPITCH SOFTBALL - 2008 LOCAL RULES

 

*NOTE: Official Little League Rules per the 2008 “blue” official rule book control, except to the extent modified below.

*Home team will keep the official score book and operate the scoreboard.

*Weeknight game times are 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturdays 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. At least 10 minutes break between time first game is over and second game starts, regardless of whether first game runs past 7:20p.m. (11:20 a.m. Saturdays), so as to allow players to warm-up. Time between games may be shortened, but only with consent of both managers.

*Game Length: Games are 1 hour 50 minutes or 7 innings, whichever is shorter. No new inning shall be started after 1 hour 45 minutes. In the event of rainout, 4 innings shall constitute a complete game.

*A team may start and play with 8, but must also finish with 8.

*An inning consists of 3 outs.

*10 run “mercy rule” after 4 innings (3 ½ if home team is ahead); 8 run “mercy rule” after 5 or more innings (4 ½ if home team is ahead).

*Bat the entire lineup/roster (all girls present at game) - free substitutions and re-entry allowed. *If a girl arrives after the game starts, and her manager desires to add girl to line-up, advise umpire and opposing manager and add girl to bottom of line-up. A manager may choose to refuse to allow his/her  player who is late-arriving to play.

* Participation Rule: Each player in lineup must play at least one defensive inning consisting of 3 outs and make one plate appearance.

*A pitcher may be removed as a pitcher, move to a different defensive position and return as a pitcher only once per inning.

*Pitching Rule: No limitation in regular season game on number of innings pitched in a game by a pitcher.

*There will be 1 minute between innings. Coaches are asked to have pitchers and catchers on the field early so they can get approximately 6-8 pitches between innings. Players must warmup pitchers — not coaches.

*Players cannot leave the base until ball leaves the pitcher’s hand.

*Players must maintain contact with the base when the pitcher is in the circle (or in the vicinity of the pitching rubber).

*No hand-painting or decals allowed on helmets.

*ALL jewelry must be removed.

*Players must be properly dressed with their shirts TUCKED IN. Not tied up in back.

*Batters and base runners must wear head gear and if a strap is available, must attach it. Helmets MUST be worn by the player until they return to the dugout.

*Coaches are urged to get the players to slide, or attempt to slide, if there is to be a play at any base (with the possible exception of first base). If in the umpire’s judgment the collision COULD HAVE resulted in injury to either of the players she shall be called OUT.

*During infield warm-up the player at home plate MUST wear a protective helmet. Players and coaches (except 1st and 3rd base coaches when on offense) will remain in the dugout.
