11-12 YEAR OLD GIRL’S
SOFTBALL RULES
*NO hand-painting or decals allowed on helmets.
*Players cannot leave the base until the ball crosses
the plate and when the pitcher is in the circle (or in the vicinity of the
pitching rubber).
*Pitching rubber 40 feet distance.
*Player cannot run on dropped third strike.
*Games: 1 hour 30 min or 6 innings. No inning after 1 hour 25 minutes.
*Team can start and play with 8 and must finish with 8.
*Teams can only play 3 players in the outfield (behind the line).
*Participation rule: Each player in the lineup must play at least one defensive
inning consisting of 3 outs and make one plate appearance.
*An inning consists of 6 runs or 3 outs.
*No 10 run or 8 run mercy rule.
*Home team will keep the
official scorebook and the scoreboard.
*Bat the entire lineup/roster (all girls present at the game) — free
substitutions and re-entry allowed.
*If a girl arrives after the game starts, and her manager desires to add the
girl to the lineup, advise the umpire and opposing manager and add the girl to
bottom of the lineup. A manger may choose to refuse to allow his/her player who
is late arriving to play.
*A pitcher can pitch unlimited innings in a game she may be removed as a
pitcher, move to a different defensive position and return as a pitcher only once
per inning.
*There will be 1 minute between innings. Coaches are asked to have
pitchers and catchers on the field early so they can get approximately 5 or
less pitches between innings. Players must warmup
pitchers — not coaches.
*Jewelry: ALL jewelry must be
removed.
*Players must be properly dressed with their shirts TUCKED IN. NOT tied up in
the back.
*Batters must wear head gear and if a strap is available, must attach
it. Helmets MUST be worn by the player until they return to the dugout. On deck
batter will be out of the field of play.
*Coaches are urged to get the
players to slide, or attempt to slide, if there could be a play at any base
(with the possible exception of first base). If in the umpires judgment the
collision COULD HAVE resulted in injury to either of the players they shall
called OUT.
*During infield warm-up the player at home plate MUST wear a protective
helmet. Players and coaches (except 1st and 3rd base coaches when on offense)
will remain in the dugout. On deck batter will be off the field of play.
